Santa is going to Deliver( BIG TIME)

Well first of all Merry Xmas to everyone..I hope everyone has a great holiday season with there friends and family. Lots of food and drinks to be had I'm sure.. Well looks like Santa is going to deliver with another round of solid swell on its way to Hawaii predicted to arrive Xmas morning at 19ft @ 17 sec which will mean Peahi( Jaws), Waimea Bay and all the outer reefs will be firing and most probably solid 20 ft Hawaiian. The perfect present if you are a surfer and over in Hawaii right now. Got to love El Nino hey.. As for here at home on the Gold Coast we are dealing with some weird weather at the moment and small surf .. But its all good u just have to be motivated and get on it early before the dreaded northerlies kick in.. I have been pretty busy with my Jamie Mitchell School of Paddle & Surf business.. Its been pretty busy the last few months and coming into Xmas and New Year it's only getting more and more busy. My brother Justin has come on board and is helping me alot with the School so its working out awesome.. Well that's about it for now. IN TRANSIT

Here i am again sitting in a airport trying to kill some time... Just found out that out flight from Honolulu to Sydney has been delayed which means ill miss my connecting flight in Sydney to the Goldy. Ill have to get on skype and try and change the times?? Good luck! HAHA. So i thought id show a shot i just got sent from Erik Aeder from the 1st session at Peahi we had on Monday. Its a different angle looking at the left but pretty cool. You can see the volume of water in the wave is pretty incredible.. Well hopefully ill have more to show in the coming week... I better try change that flight.Take care Jamie

Crazy few days!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there gang hows it all been going.. Well the biggest swell forecast since 1969 didn't quite get that big but it was definitely a good solid swell.. I got to surf Peahi(Jaws) on Monday and Tuesday and it was 20-25 feet (40 to 50 ft faces)and really clean.. Such a amazing wave.. I was lucky enough to be part of Dave Kalama and Lairds crew for the 2 days which was pretty epic.. We worked as a 3 man team.. 2 guys towing and 1 guy on a safety ski looking after the surfer if he went down...These guys are very meticulate when it comes to preparation and making sure everyone is safe.. It was a huge production with Camera's, ski's, boats, helicopters and the whole 9 yards but was well worth it to see these guys in action.. I got a whole bunch of waves on both days.. Lots of lefts and a few rights.. Thanks to the boys for towing me in and putting me in the spot every time.. U learn alot out there watching..I saw some of the heaviest wipeouts ever while i was out there.. A mate of ours who was towing with Robbie Nash had a 3 wave hold down and nearly drowned. The look on his face is something i never want to see again. The 1st day there were 4 ski's that went up on the rocks. And numerous boards.. If u were not on your game things can go south real quick. I also saw some amazing rides. Plenty of good surfers charging out there.. On another note congrats to Greg Long for winning the EDDIE. The guys is on a roll... And from what i have seen it looked like a epic day of surfing and wish i could have been a part of but hopefully one day down the track.. Well today we finally had a sleep in and then headed down and checked the waves again.It had dropped alot but we surfed a sick right hand wave somewhere on the Nth Shore of Maui on the SUP's for 3hrs and had a blast. Was fun to be back into some nice smaller waves with not as much consequence. Well hopefully ill have shots from jaws in the next few day's but i do have a few from a small camera i took out with me..Nothing special but gives u a perspective of how big it was.. Hey guys just a real quick update... Swell bouys are up and reading 16 feet 19 sec and should get bigger throughout the night,

which means big surf tomorrow.. Ill be surfing out at Peahi(JAWS) on Maui and i think the Eddie Aikau Big Wave event could go off as well.. I'm off to bed got a big day ahead tomorrow and ill update tomorrow to let u know how it all went..Take care JM..

Hawaii,the Eddie,Swell Forecast's and Shitting Bricks!!!!

Hey there everyone hows it hanging.. Well i have made my way over to Hawaii and arrived yesterday morning.. My good friend Charlie Walker picked me up from the Airport and i am staying with him and his family at Sunset Beach. Charlie has been a huge influence in my career and especially when it comes to waves here in Hawaii..He was a big wave legend back in the day being invited to the Eddie and his nickname being SUNSET Charlie. Well the waves were pretty stormy and shitty when i arrived and got a bit better today..It cleaned up throughout the day and they ran a full day of the Sunset Comp.. It was about 4 to 6 feet. I had a surf at Gas Chambers this morning and Backyards this arvo.. Its looking like being pretty good tomorrow at about 6 to 8 feet and light winds so could be a good day at Pipe and Backdoor. I think i mentioned in a earlier post that i was meant to be going to the Solomon Islands on Monday but things may have changed with some pretty scary forecasts on the radar.. We are meant to get some pretty big pulses of swell over the weekend and then on Monday they are saying BIG.I don't want to speculate but if the models stay true to what they are saying it could be too big for the Eddie Aikau Event? Yes too big!!!! Freaking scary hey.. But as i said its only what the computers are saying at the moment so we will give it a few days and wait and see... So we do have the Eddie opening Ceremony this Thursday which I'm pretty excited about..Ive been to the last 4 but this will be the 1st one as a official competitor(I'm a alternate). So i guess that's about it from here on the Rock.. I will update in the next few days and see how this potential swell unfolds.. Till then take care ... Jamie
